Interior painting

Rooms painted by hand, edge by edge

Walls, ceilings, doors, windows and trim, in empty houses and lived-in ones.

You need this when a house is bought, a room is redesigned, or a surface has stopped looking cared for. The work is mostly preparation: the paint goes on last and only over a surface that is ready for it.

Every project has a named lead who walks the rooms before the proposal and again before handover.

Preparation

What is done before any paint opens

  • Walls and ceilings

    • Nail holes, cracks and dents filled

    • Filler sanded flush and the dust vacuumed

    • Stains sealed, then primed

    • Joints and corners caulked

  • Doors, windows and trim

    • Old gloss scuffed so new paint holds

    • Gaps and mitre joints filled

    • Hardware removed, never painted around

    • Sprayed or brushed to the sheen on the schedule

  • The room itself

    • Floors covered with paper and plastic

    • Furniture moved to the middle and covered

    • Fittings and switch plates taken off

    • Rooms swept at the end of each day

The days

How a room runs

A single room takes two to four working days. A whole floor takes one to three weeks. The walkthrough gives the real number.

  1. 01

    Step 1: Protect and repair

The room is covered and every repair is made and sanded.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Prime

Patches and bare surfaces are primed, and the first coat of ceiling paint goes on.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Finish coats

Walls and trim get their coats, with drying time between them.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Handover

We walk the room with you, mark touch-ups and clean.

Sheens

Four sheens, and where each belongs

Described by what you see, not by a brand. Ask for the product data sheet for the exact paint.

  • Matt

The quietest finish. Hides surface faults, marks more easily. Ceilings and most walls.

  • Eggshell

A low sheen that wipes clean. Halls, stairs and family rooms.

  • Satin

A soft shine for trim, doors and bathrooms.

  • Semi-gloss

A hard, bright finish for trim and window casings that get handled.

Questions

About interior work

Can we stay in the house?

Yes. We work room by room, close doors behind us and clean each evening. Tell us in the walkthrough if someone works from home.

Who buys the paint?

We do, to your color and sheen schedule, and the product data sheet is yours to read before we order.

How many coats?

The proposal states it for each surface. Dark-to-light changes and new plaster take more than a refresh of the same color.
